Locauto Rent S.p.A. is one of Italy's long-established car rental networks, with desks at every major Italian airport (Fiumicino, Malpensa, Linate, Bergamo, Naples, Catania, Palermo, Bologna, Florence, Pisa, Venice, Cagliari, Olbia, Bari, Brindisi) plus more than 100 city and train-station offices throughout Italy.
The terms below summarise what is included in the rate quoted by Italy Auto Rentals and what is payable at the rental desk. Full contractual terms are signed at the counter on collection; the Italian-law version of the rental agreement prevails over this summary.
Included in the quoted price
- Third-party liability insurance (mandatory by Italian law)
- Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) with deductible — see deductible table below
- Theft Protection (TP) with deductible
- Unlimited mileage (unless otherwise stated on the rate)
- Standard 24/7 roadside assistance in Italy
- VAT and Italian road tax
Not included / payable at the counter
- Fuel — pickup with full tank, return full (or pay refueling fee)
- Young driver fee (under 25) — payable at the counter
- Additional driver — payable at the counter unless added in advance
- Cross-border travel without prior written authorization
- Tolls, ZTL fines, parking fines and traffic violations
- Damage to interior, tires (without rim damage), windscreen unless purchased extra cover
Deductible (excess) by car group
Indicative range. The exact deductible applicable to your reservation is shown on the rental agreement signed at the counter and depends on the rate you have selected.

Extras can be requested in advance via the booking voucher or added at the counter subject to availability.
Documents required at pickup
- Valid driving licence held for at least 1 year
- Passport or national ID matching the licence
- International Driving Permit if the original licence is non-Latin (e.g. Chinese, Russian, Arabic, Japanese)
- Physical credit card in the lead driver's name with sufficient available limit to cover the deductible — debit cards and pre-paid cards are not accepted at most desks
Fuel policy
Cars are delivered with a full tank and must be returned with a full tank. Any missing fuel will be charged at counter rates plus a refueling fee. Save the receipt from the nearest petrol station as proof.
Cancellation
Pay-on-arrival reservations can be cancelled or modified free of charge up to 24 hours before the pickup time, unless a non-refundable rate has been selected. After that window, no-show fees may apply. To cancel, reply to your booking confirmation email or contact us through the channels listed on the contact page.
